Our 2021 Disciples Cabernet Sauvignon is our inaugural release Disciples Cabernet Sauvignon. A journey that started in 2014 with the crafting of our first Disciples wine, a red blend inspired by the classic California field blends of the 1800s. Fast forward seven years to the summer of 2021, when we found ourselves in the midst of an incredible growing season. Thanks to the many nurtured relationships with some incredible growers we like to call friends, we were fortunate to come across some exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon. These vineyards were almost too good to be true, making it impossible to say no. Starting with a small vineyard in St. Helena, near our G.B. Crane Vineyard, we are thrilled to release our first Disciples Cabernet Sauvignon.
Tasting Notes
This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon presents itself with a deep crimson hue, hinting at the richness within. On the nose, vibrant cherry and star anise are complemented by earthy notes, while delicate floral aromas of violets and lavender, accompanied by a subtle touch of menthol, create a beautifully layered bouquet. The warm, toasty oak adds depth and balances the bright floral elements. On the palate, the wine is impeccably structured, with fine-grained tannins and fresh acidity leading to flavors of juicy cherry, ripe plum, and blackberry, with a hint of red licorice for added complexity. The finish is long and gripping, indicating great aging potential, yet it also pairs wonderfully with hearty dishes at the table surrounded by friends.
