Disciples Petite Sirah Palisades 2024

The Wine
Nestled in a narrow canyon beneath the towering cliffs of the Palisades, just north of Calistoga, this historic vineyard is rooted in an ancient alluvial fan of volcanic stone and cobbly loam, with iron-rich, weathered volcanic soils along the canyon slopes. Planted in the early 1970s, the Petite Sirah vines are head-trained, dry-farmed, and certified organic, preserving the traditional farming practices that have defined the vineyard for generations. Warm summer days and cooling westerly breezes allow the fruit to develop remarkable concentration and depth. In 2024, abundant winter rainfall and a warm growing season encouraged an earlier harvest, yielding fruit of exceptional intensity, freshness, and balance.

Winemaker Notes
Deep and inky in the glass, the wine opens with an alluring perfume of violets and ripe raspberry, gradually unfolding into layers of toffee, dried herbs, and delicate white pepper. Rich and full-bodied upon entry, black cherry and dark licorice mingle with savory herbs, revealing remarkable concentration and depth. Powerful yet beautifully composed, the palate is round and enveloping, with finely integrated tannins and vibrant acidity bringing freshness and energy to the wine's generous texture. The wine builds through a remarkably long, savory finish, offering immediate pleasure while possessing the depth and structure to evolve gracefully for decades.
